Byrd didn't need to shoot more than one. The crowd got the message after the first one.
And Ashli was not simply trespassing. She was part of a lynch mob trespassing with the intent to do bodily harm to the Vice President.
And some Capitol police may very well have held doors open after it became apparent that they were totally outnumbered and overwhelmed, but Officer Byrd stood his post behind a locked door and barrier and didn't hold anything open for anyone.
He was able to ascertain the intent of this woman coming through the window? That's a stretch.
Now we've settled on the fact shooting the woman
didn't deter the mob and the cops just threw in the towel and held open the doors? That makes the shooting less senseless than it was before.
